Mattresses for Milwaukee is a project of a group of 11 Freshman students studying at the University School of Milwaukee. We are looking to better the community around us. Led by Spanish teacher Holly Morse, our main goal in mind is to provide clean vinyl mattresses to homeless people to use when the weather is extremely cold.

We know that when temperatures become extreme, year-round overnight shelters with beds become so full they often turn people away. The need for “Emergency Warming Rooms” becomes a life and death issue.
We are raising awareness about the plight of homeless people facing severe cold. In our project we are focused on raising funds to purchase a quantity of mattresses as the MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary (MBHS) organization prepares to offer wintertime Warming Room services in the future. These carefully recorded funds will be kept separate from the MBHS General Funds and Building Funds.
